When In Trouble — Cut Off Your Foot!!

Today’s Scripture:

“Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away…. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.” ( Matt 18:7, 8 )

No, Jesus is NOT telling us to go out and amputate our limbs… (that doesn’t sound like much fun, does it?)

What he is telling us though… is to run AWAY from sin, and learn to cut it out of our lives. Many times in our lives; we have people, destructive relationships, our possessions, our attitudes, and so many more things that seek to pull us away from God, and seeks to put up a wall & a barrier between us… and our savior.

What we need to do, is to make up our mind that no matter how much I care for a person or a relationship… no matter how much I enjoy my money or possessions, no matter how much I love my job…. I WILL NOT allow them to take me out of the will… or out of the love of God.

Sin is like a destructive cancerous tumor… that starts out small in your body, and over time, grows larger & larger until one day, it has totally consumed your body and killed you.

If there is ANYTHING in your life that does cause you to sin… or act against your conscience, take the action TODAY… to remove it from your life!

P.S. — Today is my first time doing a video blog post, and I must admit, it is much more scarier than actually speaking to people from a podium.  8)

You’re NEVER too Old to Walk Into Your Destiny!

Many times… I receive private notes and messages from members of this blog and the Facebook group that REALLY inspire and encourage me!

There is one message that I received last week from a good friend… that was especially powerful and really stuck in my spirit. I believe it will INSPIRE everyone on this board!

For privacy reasons, I will not reveal her real name… but we will call her Shari…. and she has agreed to let me publish this note to inspire everyone. Enjoy!

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for the WORD in due season!
I really needed that word.
I am really needing to push through the “fear of failure
I have struggled with ALL my life.

It has stopped me from pursuing anything worth while and has kept me in bondage to the “safe route” which keeps me working as a cashier where I count the seconds to go home and keeps me from pursuing something fun and creative like photography or creating my own greeting cards.

It is interesting that just the other day I found an interesting envelope. My dad passed away over a year ago and we have purchased his home, there are still remnants of his life here and there.

I found in some of his things the other day his application for an art correspondance school that he had applied for. he did follow through and graduated from the course. But what I found interesting was what he wrote on the application.

The question was:
I would like to become a successful artist because __________________

He wrote:
“I want to have a larger income and I don’t want to be a truck driver for the rest of my life.”

At the time, he was 25 years old.

He was a truck driver until he retired at the age of 60.

This made me sad, and also caused me to ponder my own life. 44 years old and STILL a cashier…

WHY? you ask… FEAR of FAILURE !!

WOW eee !!

Fortunately the last couple of years of my dad’s life were spent in a building that was partial care but independent living ( he needed help because of a bad heart ) where the people were exposed to dad’s paintng and art work and they LOVED it !

His apartment became an ART studio, all you could smell was oil paint when you walked in. There were paintings wall papering the walls and lining his floors.

He began to sell his work to those that really enjoyed it.

The last painting on his easel was a ballerina, the last three he painted were ALL ballerinas. It was VERY important to me that I could keep the last one.

I felt it was a sign that he believed in me to pursue my dreams and that YES ! I would dance again.

Anyways, he “could have” had many more years if he would have taken his dreams seriously.

I do not want to wait till it is TOO LATE to pursue my dreams. I have been in a GREAT battle recently to follow my heart… and to hear what I really desire, and not the lies of the enemy with all the reasons why I can’t.

Anyways, Thanks again for such a timely word.

BIG BLESSINGS to YOU and your family!

Shari

Remember… as long as you’re still breathing, you’re NEVER to old to accomplish great things!

Sometimes the BIGGEST Winners are the Best Losers

Sometimes the BIGGEST Winners in Life... have come from being the Biggest Losers at one point!

Sometimes the BIGGEST Winners in Life... have come from being the Biggest Losers at one point!

Did you know that some of history’s BIGGEST winners… were also some of the BIGGEST losers in history as well?

…and no, I am not talking about the reality show, the Biggest Losers… where the contestants try & lose as much weight as possible!

Really… some of the most successful people of ALL time, have had mile after mile of defeat and loss… and probably should have given up while they were ahead, but they refused to.

Colonel Harlan D. Sanders REFUSED to quit, when at the tender, young age of 65… he left his home in Kentucky with a recipe for some tasty, fried chicken… and was rejected by over 1,000 restaurants. He finally succeeded on his 1,009th sales visit.

Thomas A. Edison
REFUSED to quit… when he finally found the right filament to use in lighting up the light bulb… only after finding 10,000 filaments that DID NOT work in a light bulb.

Soichiro Honda of Japan REFUSED to quit… when he took his idea for a new piston ring to the executives of Toyota and they laughed him out of their offices.

He refused to quit after World War II devasted Japan… and forced the Japanese to have to depend on walking or bicycles… and Soichiro created the first motorbike, and then went on to create one of the most successful automobile brands in the whole world — Honda!

Jesus Christ of Nazareth REFUSED to quit when his closest friends abandoned Him, or when He was beat beyond recognition, stripped naked, and pinned to a cross between two thieves… and mocked! He refused to quit when He breathed his last breath… and spent 3 days in the bowels of hell.

…and in the end He rose up in power so that, “At the name of Jesus… EVERY knee will bow in heaven, earth, and under earth!” (Phillipians 2:8-10)

We will not always win in life… but if we accept our losses and defeats… and use the knowledge that we learn from those losses to help make us better… we can literally PROPEL ourselves into successful winners!

As long as you learn to do something better… become more efficient… become a better person… or become stronger from a defeat that you have endured, I believe you should celebrate that defeat, because it is bringing you one step closer to your victory!

Be blessed today… and walk in God’s abundance for your life today!

What is the PURPOSE of Life? (The $10,000 Question!)

What is the Purpose of Life... and Can We Find Some Type of Instructions on How to Live?

What is the Purpose of Life... and Can We Find Some Type of Instructions on How to Live?

Whenever you buy or get something expensive in life… whether it is a new car, a entertainment stand you have to put together, or anything valuable… one of the FIRST things you typically do is READ the instructions that the manufacturer gives you. (unless you’re a true alpha male like your’s truly & don’t need instructions – LOL!)

In some cases, instructions give you a way to build something in the shortest amount of time…  and in other cases instructions tell you how to use something correctly, so it won’t BREAK down on you.

Instructions help us to figure out the complicated… and to build or use the unknown… so that we are not confused, lost, bewildered, and puzzled… because we know EXACTLY what to do!

I believe the same is true with this life that we live. There are MANY brothers and sisters in Christ out there who are lost in life… they are depressed by circumstances around them… they are puzzled at why they have not gone further in life… they are confused at why life is SO unfulfilling for them.

Why are many people like this leading “meaningless” existences in their own eyes…? I believe it is because they lack PURPOSE.

If you do not know what your purpose in life is (from the manufacter’s point of view)… then you are like a huge ship that is launched from a harbor without any navigation or compasses. Sooner or later, a ship like that will either (1) wander around aimlessly and NEVER reach it’s destination… or (2) crash into something.

Too many of us are wandering around this life without a compass… and we are wandering around aimlessly in life… and perhaps we are crashing and colliding into painful objects along the way.

But what if I were to tell you that there is a map that we can follow in life? What if I were to tell you there are instructions that we can receive that will lead us into our purpose?

When God (our manufacterer) originally created Adam and Eve (Genesis 1:26)… He BLESSED them… and said that they were GOOD… and He created them with 4 main purposes in life. You ready to hear what those purposes were?

(1) You are created in God’s image to have RELATIONSHIP and walk with Him. (Gen. 1:26, Gen. 3:8)
(2) You are created to have DOMINION & authority over the earth. (Gen. 1:26)
(3) You are created to WORK (Gen. 2:15)
(4) You are created to have FELLOWSHIP with people. (Gen. 2:18-21)

If you understand these purposes… life WILL be fulfilling. And don’t get scared at the WORK part. It is important for men and women to do meaningful work that they enjoy… and not be confined to soul-killing jobs that they hate!

Let me know what you think with your comments… and until next time, be blessed and walk in God’s abundance today!

Declare Yourself to Be a Success!!

Declare Yourself to Be a Winner Today!

Declare Yourself to Be a Winner Today!

Have you ever woke up in the morning… and didn’t feel like getting out of bed. Perhaps you dreaded getting up because you knew you had a very busy day ahead of you… Perhaps you didn’t get up because you had to go to that ‘crappy job’ that you hated… or maybe truthfully, you didn’t want to get up, because you just plain didn’t want to have to deal with ANY of those crazy people that day.

Whatever the case is… I have some good news and bad news for you, you AWESOME man or woman of God. What do you want to hear first?

Bad news first? Okay thanks for telling me, here goes:

The bad news is no matter how bad, tired, unmotivated, or yuck you feel when you get up in the morning… you HAVE to get up! Unless you are dead or physically handicapped… you really don’t have a good reason to stay in bed.

The good news is this: Although you can’t stay in bed all day long for the rest of your life… you CAN control how your day goes, whether it goes positively or negatively.

And if your day is positive… then that gives you a good reason to jump up out of bed each morning with excitement!

The Bible tells you and I in Job 22:28 this: “You will decree (DECLARE) a thing and it WILL be established… and the light will shine upon ALL your ways”

Basically, when you start making declarations with your mouth… you can start to move things and shape how your day will unfold… even before you get out of bed!

Declare in the morning what you want your day to look like and feel like. Declare yourself to be a winner… Declare yourself to be wealthy… Declare yourself to be a better spouse or parent… Declare that you will be patient with those who get on your nerves… Declare that you will NOT flip people off in traffic.

Declare until you’re all blue in the face… and about to pass out, take a moment to rest up… and then declare some more!

Have you ever wondered why some people are VERY happy, positive, and have high self-esteems… while others around you are full of drama, negativity, and have low self-esteems?

It is because some people have discovered the secret to a joyful and awesome life. The secret is that they (1) THINK positively toward themselves and others, and (2) SPEAK positively toward themselves and others.

So right now, I challenge you to go through the 30-Day test that I am personally putting myself through. For 30 days, I will:

(1) Not think negatively towards anybody or myself (and if I do, I will immediately replace it with a positive thought)
(2) Make declarations with my mouth of what I EXPECT my day to look like.

I have even gone to the extent of writing down my declarations on paper… and have dedicated myself to reading them each morning before I get off to start working. Want to see what my declarations are? I know you do! Here they are:

* I will think positively today and allow negativity to ruin my day.
* I will walk in love towards my wife, others, and myself today.
* I will worship you God today in everything I do, and not be shy about telling others about your goodness.
* I will accept and love myself today, because I am created in Your image.
* Anything is possible for me to accomplish today, if I believe in it.
* I can do ALL things through you Christ Jesus, because you strenghten me!
* You have given me the power to get wealth today, so I know that my actions and your favor will lead me to increase in my business & finances.
* The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just, and I am just because I believe in you Lord!
* I and my family are healed today in our bodies and in our minds by the stripes (wounds) you endured for us on cavalry.
* Today, I will walk in power against Satan, demons, and the world because I AM an overcomer!

What do you think about declarations? Let me know by commenting below… and tell us what some of your declarations are!

Blessings to you,

Pastor Daniel Wiafe

ALL things are POSSIBLE for YOU… if YOU Believe! (Part 3 of 3)

Persistence is a LONG Journey

Persistence is a LONG Journey

Have you ever been on a long road trip, that seems like it will never end? Perhaps it seems like you have been driving for an eternity and it seems like countless hours have passed by… and your legs are all cramped up… and your body is aching and screaming from sitting in that driver’s seat for so long.

Can you remember what that feels like?

Now can you also remember how relieved and elated you were when you finally pulled up to your destination? You probably felt like jumping out of your car and shouting to the world, “I DID IT!”.

The reason why we feel so good when we get to our final destination after a long trip… or we are all giddy with joy after we see a wonderful Thanksgiving day dinner set up, after hours of slaving away in a kitchen… or why we are able to stand up proudly after we spend many days working on assembling a book cabinet… is because of the persistence that we put into the task… FINALLY paid off after a certain amount of time.

This is Part #3 of ‘All Things are Possible for You… if You Believe!‘. In it, we discussed that when we go into prayer for anything we desire… whether it be for our family, finances, physical & emotional healing, whatever… there are 3 IMPORTANT concepts for us to remember when we aim to get results from our prayers.

THREE (3) CONCEPTS:
(1) God is Your Loving FATHER
(2) FAITH is the Engine that Moves Prayer
(3) PERSISTENCE is the Road You Travel until You Reach the Results

Today we’ll be talking about a little word called Persistence

PERSISTENCE is the Road You Travel until You Reach the Results You Want
Many thousand years ago in a country known as present-day Iraq, there lived an Israelite captive whose name was Daniel (and no, it wasn’t me… I’m not that old). He had received some alarming and detrimental news in a vision about his countrymen… and he immediately set in his heart to get answers to his questions from God.

Anyways, he was so sorrowful that he went into mourning for his people… and decided to abstain (fast) from meats, breads, and wine.

This guy named Daniel stayed before the Lord looking for an answer… and after 3 weeks… an angel of the Lord named Michael met him. Not only did the angel meet Daniel… he brought Daniel’s answer to him from God all wrapped up with a bow tie! (okay… so there wasn’t a bow tie on it)

What got me about this event that started out in the 10th Chapter of Daniel… is that Michael told Daniel that the very FIRST day he sent his prayer up, God received it.

But it took Michael a FULL 21-days to fight his way through hell and high-water… in order to get the answer to Daniel. If Daniel had stopped seeking God when he did not get instant results… he would NOT have gotten his answers.

But Daniel who several years earlier had found himself on the wrong side of a lion’s den… knew from experience, that his God was able to accomplish anything and everything… and he knew to persist, until he received his anwer.

The word persistence is defined as “refusing to stop, to relentlessly seek after a thing until you get it”

This is the 3rd and final concept in getting our prayers answered. We MUST be persistent. When we pray, of course we should believe in instant results. But even if we don’t see things happen instantly, just like Daniel… we should know that our Father has heard our prayers… and whether we have to wait a week, a month, a year… we will PERSISTENTLY wait for an answer to our prayer!

Persistence is a LONG road… but the bigger that thing is that you want… the more passion you should have for it… and the more persistent you should be.

Because honestly friend, I cannot give you an exact formula for a ‘prayer that gets answered instantly’. But I can say this… that if you are persistent in your prayer and in your faith… you will ABSOLUTELY praise God when you receive that answer from God for that thing you have been praying for, for so long.

If you grow weak while you are traveling down that long, sometimes lonely road called persistence… remember what one of my favorite Scriptures says:

Wait on the Lord and He WILL renew you strength… He will mount you up on wings like an eagle. You WILL run and not grow weary, you WILL walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Let me know what you think in your comments! Be blessed and walk in God’s total abundance for your life today.

How to Invest in Your Self (Part 2 of 3)

Happy Friday to everyone! One more day until Saturday… Hooray!

Anyways, this is Part 2 of our 3 Part series on ‘How to Invest in Yourself’. In this series, we are looking at seven (7) things we can pursue… that will increase us spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

These things include:

1) Spend 15-30 minutes a day in Personal Development
2) Put God First, Family Second, Self Third, Others Fourth
3) Make Own Lifestyle Decisions
4) Whatever U Do for Money… Make Sure Your in Business for Yourself
5) Exercise
6) Make the Most of the Money You Bring in to Your Home
7) Map Out Your Own Financial Future

Yesterday, we described in detail the first two items on the list above.

If you missed Part 1, you may click here to read it first.

(3) Make Your Own Lifestyle Decisions
Depending on what your personality or upbringing is… some people are more independant than others are. For example, I myself moved out of my father’s home when I was about 19 years of age, because I had a VERY strong independent nature and because of my upbringing.

My wife, however, grew up in a very sheltered home where her mother was highly protective of her… so when I first met her, she had a dependent nature for the most part (however, this has changed in the past few years… and she has grown more independent).

In order to get further in life… you need to grow more independent in your thoughts and actions, and my wife’s own example proves that this can be done. Only follow a person’s advice if they have succeeded in the area that you wish to succeed in.

For example… I will NOT take financial advice from a homeless person or a person who just had his home foreclosed on. Why? Because obviously their advice doesn’t work… otherwise they wouldn’t be in the situation that they’re in… so why should I follow suit?

When you make your own lifestyle decisions… it is your way of telling the world that, ‘I am in charge of my own destiny!’ Let’s face the facts… people who allow others to constantly make decisions for them…. lead dull, meaningless existences for the most part.

Making GOOD lifestyle decisions means that you make decisions that are in the best interests of yourself and your family FIRST… and don’t allow other’s opinions to bully you into making decisions that are NOT in your best interest.

As Christians… and even for those of you reading this who don’t believe in Christ (yet) and live good, moral lives… we tend to have a soft nature towards others… and want to please everyone around us, and help everyone else around us. While this is a GOOD thing for us to do (think of others first)… we must NEVER put others first, at the expense of our own family!

Is it right for a man to help his brother financially… at the expense of him not being able to keep the lights and water on at his home and for his family? Or at the expense of his children not having hot food at night or clean diapers to wear?

Is it right for a woman to spend all her time at church or working at a food kitchen… at the expense of her husband and children NEVER seeing her at home for ten months at a time?

While we are called to help others… we MUST set boundaries, and never allow our good works to come at the expense of our spouses and children.

Make your own lifestyle decisions based on your own values, your beliefs, your knowledge, your vision, and your goals. Never make them on other’s values and beliefs in order to please that person.

Remember friend…. you are the MASTER of your own destiny!

4) Whatever You Do for Money… Make Sure Your in Business for Yourself
Let me start off by saying this… I am NOT advocating that you immediately go to your boss right now and tell him, ‘I quit… because Wiafe told me too quit!’

Never that… that would be a poor decision on your part.

What I am saying, however… is that somewhere in your financial plans and goals, you should have a plan on how you can make and create money for yourself… outside of your job.

People tend to gravitate towards jobs… over running their own businesses (in my personal opinion)… because they fear the unkown and feel like there is more security in working for someone else.

Jobs are good if:
(1) You are doing something that you like…
(2) If you’re making the money that you want…
(3) and if you are promised total job security (no layoffs) until you reach your retirement age.

If these three things above apply to you… then stay at your job… FOREVER! There’s no problems or issues… and one of my mottos is, ‘If it ain’t broke… don’t fix it!’

However… if you HATE your job… if you are not making the money that you DESERVE… and/or if you go to work everyday in fear of getting slapped in the face with a pink slip… then it is up to you, to take the bull by the horns, and become the CHANGE that you want!

No one else will do it for you… you have to do it for yourself!

If this is you… I highly recommend you get and read the books, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki… and also 48 Days to the Work You Love by Dan Miller.

Also check out the post I did on February ’09 titled, ‘Need More Money in Your Pocket? Keep Reading if You Do… Part #2

What do you think? Let me know with your comments… all feedback by you whether negative or positive is welcome!

Until Monday… be blessed this weekend and walk in God’s abundance today!

How to Invest in Your Self (Part 1 of 3)

Happy Thursday to everyone around the world. Depending on what time you read this post, you have less than 48 hours to go until the weekend comes… so keep on pushing hard in your work week and don’t give up, friend!

Today’s post will be about an important subject (I guess I could say that about everything I write, LOL). It is about investing in the MOST important asset in the world… it is about investing in the security that will bring you in the MOST R.O.I. (return on investment) for your buck!

Today’s post is about Investing in Your Self!

To make it more clear… it’s specifically about investing in your mind and your spirit, and this is part 1 of a 3-part message series.

The issue we have is that across the world, we have too many people who perhaps may love to invest in money… but fail to invest in self. These next three posts won’t really focus too much on money (although you can check out the TodayAbundance.com Money & Wealth Category for more on money).

When you invest in yourself or anything in life… what you are doing is saying, ‘Hey I am going to sacrifice time, money, blood, sweat, tears, my 1st born child (just kidding!) TODAY… so that I can attain something  greater TOMORROW!’

But remember, in whatever you do… be like Jesus and “count up the costs” (Luke 14:25-35)

So let’s get started… Here are the few things in no particular order that I think of when it comes to investing in yourself… or personal development:

* Spend 15-30 minutes a day in Personal Development
* Put God First, Family Second, Self Third, Others Fourth
* Make Own Lifestyle Decisions
* Whatever U Do for Money… Make Sure Ur in Business 4 Urself
* Exercise
* Make the Most of the Money You Bring in to Your Home
* Map Out Your Own Financial Future

(1) Spend 15-30 Minutes a Day in Personal Development
I learned this from J.B. Glossinger of Morning Coach. This is important for us all to do. At the beginning of the day (Monday through Friday)… it is vitally important to fill your mind and your spirit with good stuff… that will motivate you, challenge you, enlighten you, teach you, and lift you up!

So what kind of things should you do in your 15 – 30 minutes of personal development during your work week?

Well that really depends on what you do in life… and what you’re passionate about.

I am a preacher, blogger, and run a highly successful Internet Marketing business. As I am always on the go hustling and bustling around… I mostly use iTunes and the iPod for my personal development. I listen to spiritual things on the iPod (Daily Bible Reading, Various Christian messages, etc.)… and then I listen to motivational things that will pump me up on my iPod (MorningCoach, Zig Ziglar)…

I listen to things which will help me to become a better businessman (Internet Marketing Tips, How to Be a Better Sales Person, etc.)… and then I listen to things which will help me become more financially astute (Dave Ramsey, Ray Lucia, etc.).

I also try to read various blogs each week in a wide variety of different genres… and also read at least 2 books a month (or at least try to – LOL). I try and get a wide variety in, because as both a business man & a man for Christ… I am called to be well-rounded in not only Scripture and making money… but in psychology, counseling, speech, homiletics, accounting, marketing, leadership, theology, etc.

(2) Put God 1st, Family 2nd, Self 3rd, Others Last
Now this is just my opinion… so watch as I explain my opinion:

When you put God first… I am not saying you DO this solely by going to church (which you should do by the way, because being around those with the same beliefs strenghtens you). I am mainly saying that you need to give Him (God) personal time each day. This can be 10 minutes, 15 minutes, an hour… whatever is comfortable to you. After all, He made you, created you, and blesses you on a daily basis… we can’t afford NOT to give Him his time.

You can do this through prayer, meditation, and/or reading His Word.

When you put your family second… it is NOT saying you let them run over you and use you and burn you out like a cheap cigar! I am not even talking about putting your whole family first…  I’m just talking about your immediate family & household (spouse, kids). Put them first… because friends, jobs, businesses, associates will come and go… but your immediate family is always there!

Make sure that in your busy day… you spend QUALITY time with them. You can always make money, but can you ever replace the time that you missed watching your children grow up? No, you can’t.

When you put yourself third… it means that you spend time to develop yourself and take time to recharge yourself when you are worn out (spiritually, mentally, or physically). It means you don’t allow people to push you around… or use you… or harm you in anyway.

It means you take the time and money to invest in yourself,  and build your self-esteem up, and build your self-worth up… because you are a million-dollar creation, in fact you are worth even more than that!

When you put others last… it’s not saying that you’re being selfish by putting them last. Sometimes you will have to make a sacrifice in order to help someone (even when it means putting yourself last). But what it means is again, don’t ALLOW people to use you. Help people when it is in YOUR power to help them… and it won’t cause damage to yourself or your immediate household in doing so.

I personally would love to help everyone in the world with all their issues and problems, but I simply can’t.

I would love to give money to everyone who is broke, but I can’t… because I myself would go broke sooner, rather than later… and my wife would probably kick me out of the house if she seen the bank account was drained to zero!

I would love to spend time listening to everyone’s problem and offering to help them find a Godly solution… but I can’t, because I only have 24 hours in my day… and on top of that, I need to deal with Daniel issues!

More stuff to come tomorrow at http://www.TodayAbundance.com… so tune in! Kris Trujillo, if you’re reading this… I’m still only 29 years year-old (LOL). What do you think about today’s post? Anything to add on or take away? Agree or disagree? Let me know by commenting below!

Be blessed and walk in God’s abundance today!

Winning as a Team… is BETTER than Losing by Yourself!

For the past four days… my wife and I have been vacationing in beautiful Rio Grande, Puerto Rico (about 15 miles east of San Juan) and for the most part… have LOVED our time and stay down here!

As I write this… I am sitting in the front hotel lobby on beautiful, marble floors… huge white-washed pillars surround me… a misty waterfall and lush greenery stand in front of me… and the sound of jazzy and festive salsa music invades the air!

The sun is setting and tantalizing Caribbean cuisine aromas fill the air… and that makes for a surreal and pretty setting where I am at… in this 80 degree, tropical paradise.

Okay… now that I have you salivating (LOL)… let’s get to this business of explaining why “Winning as a Team… is BETTER than Losing by Yourself!”

The other day… my wife and I took our rent-a-car and drove to do some shopping in the town that is outside of our resort. When we left… we got lost, and no matter how much I BEGGED… it seemed like our dear, old GPS didn’t like me… and wasn’t doing too much to help us out! It was getting dark… we’re in a foreign land… and it seems like many of the Puerto Ricans love to drive 100 m.p.h. on the interstate on Saturday night!

Ever had one of those days?

Anyways… I got angry at my wife because I felt like she was talking to me “way too much”… and that was the reason for us getting off track and told her to keep quiet, and I’ll find the hotel myself without her help. She shot back that we need to work together as “Team Wiafe” instead of trying to do things individually.

So as I thought about it… she was right. When we work together as a team, whether as a husband/wife, sibling, co-worker, business, ministry…. whatever type of relationship you may have with others… even if you or someone else “drops the ball”… as long as you are working with someone, that person can “pick up and recover the fumble”… and you can “win the game!”

Life is all about working as a team… in order to do and achieve something greater than you could accomplish by yourself. Don’t sell yourself short by doing EVERYTHING by yourself! Now I’m not saying you need to work as a team in everything that you do… but in many areas of your life, two heads are definitely better than one… and this is ESPECIALLY true in marriage.

So be blessed this Memorial Day weekend wherever in the world you are at… and remember, don’t try to do everything by yourself… because you just might lose the game!

How to Get MORE Done… in LESS Time (Part Two)

If you missed Part One of How to Get MORE Done… in Less Time, you can read it here. Basically, last week’s post stated that back in the 1920’s, Charles Schwab, a steel corporation tycoon… used a SIMPLE system to generate hundreds of millions of more dollars in a short amount of time. That system is detailed in last week’s post.

This post will be fairly short and simple also… so be blessed by it!

Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule before? If you haven’t… you’re missing a big opportunity for yourself! The 80/20 rule (also known as Pareto’s Principle) states that 80% of an OUTPUT you want… comes from 20% of the INPUT that goes in.

Hope I didn’t lose you right there! So what does this mean? I’ll tell you…

* 80% of all the income earned in America, or any other country… is earned and held by the top 20% of the population.
* 80% of a business man or woman’s sales… comes from the top 20% of their customers.
* 80% of the amount of money that comes into a church on Sunday morning… comes from 20% of the church members.
* 80% of the food we eat… comes from 20% of the world.
* 80% of the clothes we wear throughout the week… comes from 20% of the clothes that are in our closets!

and…

* 80% of the results that we want… will come from the TOP 20% of the work we put into it!

This means that if you have a business, a job, a ministry, take care of a household, whatever you do… if you concentrate your efforts and your work on doing the MOST important things first (or the top 20% of your work)… you will have automatically accomplished 80% of everything that needed to get done!

But if you concentrate on doing the bottom 80% of the least important work you need to do (as most people do)… you will only accomplish 20% of the job you need to complete!

Amazing, huh?

Taking this further… most people work 8 hours a day on average. Most of this time is spent goofing off or doing irrelevant stuff (surfing the Internet, chatting on IM, talking on to friends on the phone, daydreaming, shuffling paperwork, checking e-mail too much, etc…)

If we simply went to work… and concentrated on doing the big things which were PRIORITY that needed to be done in order to get a job done, or make money for our business (ex. making those calls to the sales clients, selling our products/services, etc.)… it is possible that we could accomplish that in 1.5-2 hours time instead of 8 hours… and have completed 80% of ALL the work that was needed for the day!

In any typical workday… we tend to put off the boring or the more dreaded things (top 20%) to the latter part of the day… and we do the fun or easy things such as Internet, chatting to co-workers, etc. (bottom 80%) first.

If we would simply flip this around… and spend the first two hours of our day working HARD at accomplishing the important tasks (20%), we will accomplish MOST of the vital work that needs to be done (80% results).

So How Do I Put That into Action?

(1) Write down all the tasks you need to get done for the next day on paper… the night before you go back to work.

(2)Most of the times… there are 2, sometimes 3 very important tasks that we need to do in a day. Do these tasks first… and don’t allow ANYTHING to interrupt you from accomplishing these tasks.

(3) Try this for 30 days and see how free it makes you! If you own your own business… you will be WAY more productive, as much as by 800%. If you work a job… your boss will bend over backwards for you and might even promote you… If you are able to use the 80/20 rule effectively, you will have a less stressful and more enjoyable job ahead of you!

What do you think? Let me know! Be blessed of God in all you do and have an AWESOME weekend!
