“A righteous man falls seven times… but he ALWAYS gets back up!” (Proverbs 24:16)
Even though you may fall flat on your face… as the Australian man w/ no limbs (Nick Vujicic) in the YouTube video sets the example… ALWAYS get back up, and REFUSE to stay down!
This weekend I went to a 3-day business conference in Las Vegas (Affiliate Summit), where I was able to meet a bunch of GREAT people from all across the country… learn more about my business (Internet Advertising & Marketing)… and just get energized by connecting with many like-minded individuals who are doing FAR better than me (by far better, I’m talking about in the millions of dollars!)
I’m saying this because of this well-known fact. If we ever want to get ahead anywhere in life… if we want to make an advancement in our career or business… if we want to ever get away from those crabs that keep trying to pull us back into the bottom of the basket, as we try to climb out… WE HAVE TO GO OUT THERE AND GET CUT!
Before you go to your kitchen countertop and grab your favorite cleaver or steak knife and slice & dice yourself… let me explain what I’m saying by, “You Have to Go Get Cut!”
God says in His abundant word, “As iron sharpens iron… so one person sharpens the wits of another” (Proverbs 27:17)
Have you ever noticed whenever you use a metal object a lot be it a knife, ax, scissors, or whatever other sharp toys you like to play with… it tends to get DULL and BLUNT after awhile, and begins to lose it’s effectiveness at doing it’s job (cutting or slicing).
The same thing happens with us after awhile. We are “sharp” at our professions, at our businesses, at our jobs, at our crafts… but after awhile, no matter how good we are at what we do… or no matter how greatly we desire to become or do something great in life… if we don’t connect with other like-minded people, we can get dull and blunt.
In order for you to keep doing whatever it is that needs to be done… or to accomplish new things, you need to either (1) Get a new knife…or (2) Sharpen the old knife. Obviously, you can’t throw yourself away and get a new you (at least not at the current time)… so the only option you have is sharpening your self.
How do I do that you ask?
A few things. Whatever it is you desire to do… simply get around, connected, and build relationships with like-minded people. That’s it!
There’s a number of ways we can connect with like minded individuals who can sharpen us:
(1) Join groups in the field that you want to advance in (online or in person)… or go to conventions. These groups can provide you with encouragement, motivation, and inspiration… as well as knowledge and wisdom in your area of focus.
(2) Read books by people who have achieved what you want to achieve. If you want to become rich in real estate, why not read a book by Donald Trump? If you want to become a better basketball player, why not read a book by Michael Jordan? If you want to become a motivational speaker, why not read a book by Zig Ziglar or Tony Robbins?
(3) If possible, get a mentor. A mentor is simply someone who has already achieved what you want to achieve… and will teach you and pour into you their knowledge. Many times more than not, you will have to pay someone to mentor you, but hey… think of it as an investment in yourself.
(4) Ditch people that “Dull” you up… rather than “Sharpen” you. Basically what I’m saying is that if all your friends are negative, aren’t going anywhere, and pretty much just suck… ditch ‘em and get new friends! You don’t need anyone being a burden on you… and When you’re at the top, you can get new friends!
Until next time, stay sharp and focused… it was great meeting new friends in Vegas (Andrew and Kris)… it’s great to have a new office partner (Jeremiah Hale) who’ll keep me sharp in business and in God… be blessed and walk in God’s abundance today!
That’s right… no creative or catchy headline title this week… just a good, old fashioned ‘How to’ post that I believe will add some positive sunshine and warmth… to someone who may be having a slightly cloudy and overcast week.
Early on December 27th… my mother passed away. She had been extremely sick for the past 2 years… had become incapacitated in the past few months… pulled out her feeding tube a week prior… and her two sons had to make the HARD decision to agree with the doctor’s recommendation that the feeding tube not be reinserted because of her physical condition.
All this happened around Christmas, which is supposed to be a warm, fuzzy, joyful time of the year. That in more words or less… made the situation we faced. suck extremely that much more.
Now watch this…
Anytime one of our loved ones die… anytime we are in a long-term relationship with someone (whether it is dating or marriage) and it breaks up… anytime we are in a financial crisis and it seems like Repossession, and is big brothers Eviction and Foreclosure are knocking at our doors… anytime when it seems like everybody at the job or in your household are talking about you so bad that you want to get some boxing gloves, take them to the ring, and go Mike Tyson on them…
…I can bet money that you are probably not having a warm, bright, sun-shiny day. In fact, your day feels like it’s cloudy… overcast… drizzly… cold and icy… gray skies… and all that other good stuff.
So do you have a right to be mad at the world if you’re having an UNPOSITIVE day, or do you have a right to throw an adult temper tantrum, or do you have a right to show everybody what kind of day (or week) you’re having?
No. No, you don’t.
I was reading a post by my good friend Jasper, where someone quoted God’s promise to us on his note: “As a man [or woman] thinks, so is he [or she]” (Proverbs 23:7). The guy continued to say, “We have to fake it, until we make it”.
That’s true, especially when we’re trying to be POSITIVE in a generally unpositive world!
FACT: Being unpositive and mad at the world does NOTHING good for us anyways, so why have that type of mindset.. even if you “deserve” to feel that way. Being mad like that all the time brings stress, anxiety, can cause sickness and disease in your body, and causes people to avoid you like an Al Sharpton for President rally!
If you’re having trouble staying positive this week… remember to (1) Look at the glass as half-FULL, and not half-empty.
Identify (2) What is the good thing that can come out of a bad situation. In my mother’s case, she is no longer in pain… and she is in heaven now, and at that I can REJOICE!
(3) Learn to smile and be friendly towards others around you… even if you have to fake it ’till you make it, and FORCE yourself to smile when you don’t want to. Go ahead and try it out… it works. Give 10 people today a great, big-old Kool-Aid man smile… and see if it doesn’t make you happier… and do something positive for your day!
Remember, being unpositive and mad towards everyone else WILL not make you happy, but will bring yourself (and others) down. Being positive (even if you have to force yourself), is just what the doctor ordered when your day is not going all good and gravy.
If this post helped you.. or you think it can help someone else, feel FREE to forward it or post it to your friends and loved ones.
Until next time, I love everybody… have a positive day… congratulations to my cousin Marian on her wedding last week… and walk in God’s abundance, today!
Do you ever wake up sometimes and think to yourself, “Life is dealing me a bad hand of cards!”. It may seem like everything that can go wrong, DOES go wrong.
Sometimes it may seem like you can never do anything right… or perhaps you may think that you are the most unluckiest person you know, because life never gives you a “break”… and when it does, it’s in the form of somebody breaking in to your car or your house!
The Bible declares in Proverbs 24:16 that “A righteous person may fall seven times, but he gets back up“.
What God’s abundant word is saying is this: Everybody in this world, no matter how great or small, no matter how rich or poor, no matter what the color of their skin is or what sex they are… is going to get KNOCKED down at times in their life.
But what makes you or breaks you my friend… is what you do AFTER you are knocked down by life. Look at the sport of boxing or MMA (mixed martial arts). Sometimes the fighter gets hit with a CRUSHING right hook to the temple… Sometimes he gets a DEVASTATING uppercut in the jaw.
Sometimes the fighter just absolutely gets his LIGHTS KNOCKED OUT so bad, that you think that the fool forgot to pay his electric bill.
Every great boxer from Muhammed Ali to Mike Tyson to everybody’s favorite movie underdog, Rocky Balboa… had ONE thing in common.
No matter how many times they got knocked down, they kept getting back up!
No matter how hurt and bloodied they were, they stayed in the fight and did not give up!
No matter how big or bad the opponent that was before them was, they stiffened their jaw up and ran towards their problem…. rather than away from it!
This week if you are feeling beat up, and knocked around, and bruised up by the cold weather… or by expenses… by frustrations… or if you’re just plain depressed and distressed… know that it is okay for you to get knocked down in life… BUT you better get back up!
Everytime you get back up, you catch a little more wind and you are stronger than you were before! Don’t give up, but get a holy attitude and stop letting life beat you up… but give it a stiff jab to the lip!
Live life fully today, show love to your family and friends, worship God in Spirit and Truth… and the next time life knocks you down, shout these words out…
“Where there is NO vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” - Proverbs 29:18
____
When you hear or read the word “Vision“, how do you define that 6-letter word? Do you view it as just what your eyes see… or do you view vision as how far you can see… or perhaps, how well you can see (or can’t see) at night while you’re driving?)
Vision is defined in the dictionary as (1) The ability to see something… and (2) to have a vivid, mental image of something that has yet to pass.
I want you to concentrate hard on that second definition…
To have a vivid, mental image of something that has yet to pass.
No, and I don’t mean you eat some spoiled, month-old bologna last night… and you had some crazy, translucent, vivid, mental images of blue Smurfs running around your bed (that sounds a bit scary, huh?)
I’m talking about YOU having the the type of vision… where you can vividly SEE yourself at a much further state than you are at presently, 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years down the line.
I’m talking about YOU having the type of vision, where you can SEE yourself as a millionaire… even if you don’t have nothing but a dime, an old Snickers wrapper, and a few balls of lint in your pocket.
I’m talking about YOU having the type of vision, where you can SEE yourself running your own business or going back to school and getting that degree that you always wanted… even if you have 6 kids, and 1 on the way, and are struggling to make ends meet!
I’m talking about YOU having the type of vision, where you can SEE your whole family coming back together like a real family… even though none of them gets along, haven’t talked to each other for years, are estranged, and when they do meet up, want to rip each others throats out!
The type of vision God wants you to have. He wants your vision not to depend on what your natural eyes sees… but He wants your Vision to depend on what your eyes of faith sees. So just because your life may look like a hot mess right now in your natural eyes, doesn’t mean that’s where it has to stay at!
Allow God to fit you with a prescription pair of glasses that will totally change the way that you have been looking at the world.. and yourself. I promise you, the type of corrective lenses He will give you will give you such awesome 20/20 vision… you will see the light once again!
If you can see it, you can achieve it… and if you can achieve it… you can be it.
Make up in your mind RIGHT NOW… that no matter what you (or anybody else) thinks about you, that you are going to start seeing yourself as a successful person. You’re going to start seeing yourself at a much higher station in life than you currently see yourslef at.
Because this is VERY sad, but VERY true, when we don’t have a positive VISION for our life… we begin to slowly perish (die) on the inside. That fire, desire, and excitement that you had as a kid… will slowly start to fade… and you will actually start to die slowly on the inside.
Tomorrow, we will talk more about Vision… and how you can attain your vision through goals… so tell all your friends about the blog and tune in tomorrow.
Until then, see yourself as God sees you (a winner, an overcomer, his child, blessed beyond measure, a success), have an AWESOME day… and walk in God’s Abundance today, because tomorrow is too late!
Once again, it’s MONDAY… and today millions of people from coast to coast in America (including you), have jumped out of bed, with a huge smile on their face, excited and leaping with joy… with the sun shining bright through their windows… lovely bluebirds chirping beautiful songs in the trees outside… waking up to the fresh, tantalizing aroma of mountain-grown coffee!
Why?
Because we get to start yet another WONDERFUL workweek at our job, business, or school!
Okay, so the stats are probably only about 1 in a million people who enjoy Monday mornings (and you are probably not that 1 in a million)
And that scenario above is probably more in tune to a Walt Disney movie… or an old 1980’s Folgers commercial.
The rest of us roll out of bed, with crust in our eyes… stank breath… cursing and complaining… kicking the dog… the alarm clock blaring in our ears… rushing to work because we overslept and have to be at work in 13 minutes.
Life can be so HORRIBLE… our weekends (Friday evenings, Saturdays, Sundays) seem to RUSH by in 1 day… and our weekdays (Monday through Friday) seem to CREEP by at a snail’s pace of 10 days.
Again, I say, life can be so HORRIBLE… or does it really have to be?
God declares in his word, “As a man thinks (believes) in his heart (mind), so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7). Don’t worry ladies, God isn’t leaving you out… when He says “man”, He’s talking about “mankind”, which includes you… so go ahead and let out a big sigh of relief. *WHEW!*
Whether we have a good day, bad day, wonderful day, or horrible day… depends entirely on YOU and nobody else!
It doesn’t depend on how your co-workers treat you at the job… it doesn’t depend on whether you have enough money in the account so that your car payment doesn’t bounce, AGAIN… it doesn’t even matter whether Obama is elected tomorrow, or if McCain is elected tomorrow.
Whatever you believe in your mind or your heart about YOURSELF… that is what will frame your entire day or week that is yet in front of you, for the POSITIVE… or for the NEGATIVE. Your mindset and emotions RIGHT NOW are the fabric from which your future will be sewn from TODAY and TOMORROW.
If you believe that everyone is against you… they WILL be against you. If you believe you will never achieve anything in life… you will NEVER achieve anything. If you believe that today is going to be another painful day… it is GOING to be a painful day. If you believe in boogie men living under your bed… guess what? Well, I’ll leave that one alone…
But honestly, I think when we get down to the point and the nitty gritty of things… 999,999 out of 1 million WANT to have a great day, and want to love life, and want to have joy… but their thoughts don’t reflect this…
So go ahead and try this today… if you want to change your life today at mind-shattering speeds… and start seeing the glass as half-full (and not half-empty), try this prescription that Dr. Daniel is going to prescribe to you today for AT LEAST 30 days… and take it every morning when you wake up. I promise, it’ll taste better than Robittisum (I guess everything tastes better than that stuff!)
Your Prescription: Start calling yourself what you want your day [and life] to look like.
Yes, you read that right… I know your momma gave you a good name at birth, but God is going to give you another name today… so that you can walk in some abundance, today!
* My mother named me Joan, but today… I AM Joy!
* My mother named me Blake, but today… I AM Blessed!
* My mother named me Winnie, but today… I AM Wealthy!
* My mother named me Henry, but today… I AM Happy!
* My mother named me Simone, but today… I AM Strong!
* My mother named me Victor, but today… I AM Victorious!
* My mother named me Constance, but today… I AM a Conqueror!
You see where I’m going with this… I could keep on going on and on telling you who your heavenly Father wants you to be! You think I’m crazy by saying this, but it WORKS if you’ll work it!
God did it when Abraham was sent by faith to sacrifice his only beloved son Isaac, on a mountain in Genesis 22. God provided a ram in the bush for Abraham to kill in place of Isaac… and God said His name at that point was Jehovah Jirah (I AM a Provider). God’s many names reflect who He is and what He will do for his children, and include Jehovah Rophe (I AM a Healer), Jehovah Shalom (I AM Peace), Jehovah Tsidkenu (I AM Your RIghteousness).
If God can do this… then we can too, as we were ALL made in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26).
So today, have an AWESOME day. Find out what your TRUE name is, and call yourself AND your day by your TRUE name today and for the next 30 days… and until tomorrow, walk in God’s Abundance today!
