Only the Strong Survive!

Think about where you, your family, and your loved ones are at at this present stage of life today… Really, just take a few seconds… maybe about 15-30 seconds and think deeply about it. Where are you at in life right now? How are things going for you in this time of economic crisis… when businesses are closing down, and millions are being laid off across the country?

How is your home and family life going? How is your spiritual life going right now at this very moment?

Are you happy? Sad? Confused? Excited to be living? Depressed? Slightly constipated (LOL)?

Thought about it enough? GREAT! Go ahead and give yourself a round of applause and celebration no matter where you are at life right now. Go ahead and look crazy foolish at your computer in front of your co-workers as you read this and clap your hands!

Okay, so I know you’re thinking this exact same thought… “Daniel, are you crazy man?! Why should I give myself a round of applause“. This holds true especially if you are at a low point… or going through difficult times in life, household, job, or relationships right now… why is there ANY reason for me to celebrate? Why is there ANY reason for me to praise God?

Keep reading as I tell you why… I promise you at the end of this blog post, you’ll be jumping up and down praising God. [In my BEST Sarah Palin voice] “You betcha, you will!”

Imagine yourself living back in the turn of the millenium about 2,000 years ago. Yes I know, NOT having an iPod, television, running water, or fast food WOULD suck pretty bad… but please entertain me, and imagine yourself back in those good ole’ days.

You have been giving a once-in-a-lifetime job to do by your boss… and you do it to the best of your ability, to the best of your knowledge, to the best of your talent, and most importantly… you do your job to the best of your strength.

Now think of this… you currently work at a job where all your co-workers respect you and your bosses love you! You are well known and loved in your community because of your title. It’s a high-paying job, there’s pretty much no struggle in your life, no anxiety in your life… you are absolutely Ballin’ (even though you don’t have an iPod, running water, or McDonalds).

Now think of this… you find wind that your company does VERY shady & horrible things in the community… and you know in your heart of hearts that that company is WRONG and you decide to pack up and leave and get a new job.

You are blessed and highly favored… so of course you get a new job right away!

Your new job requires that you spend most of your life traveling across the country…, you have to sell a service that most of your customers don’t think that they need…, you have to sleep in ratty, damp, rank motels each night…, oh and get this… occasionally your customers attempt to stone you to death and throw you off of cliffs!

Hold up your hand if you’re ready to turn in your resume and apply for this wonderful job.

This in essence, is what the Apostle Paul faced in his time. He was given the most important job in the world (to preach God’s Good News that Christ came to save all men & women who will give their lives to him)… and in many cases… Paul was ridiculed, he was beaten, savagely attacked, mocked at every turn, didn’t have much money in his pockets, his friends abandoned him when he needed them the most… and this was on GOOD days!

Kind of puts a new perspective to us when we complain about not being able to buy that new plasma TV from Best Buy… or that hot, new dress from J.C. Penneys… doesn’t it?

Paul knew what is was like to be wealthy, he knew what is was like to be everyone’s friend, he knew what it was like to sleep in a warm bed, and he knew what is was like to live the high life.

On the flip side of the coin… her also knew what it was like to be dirt-broke poor, he knew what is was like to be hated, he knew what is was like to sleep in the cold and the rain, and he knew what it was like to be hunted by the same people who were once his friends.

In Philipians 4:12-13… he makes the proud declaration, that NO matter what position he is in life, NO matter what happens to him, NO matter who loves him or hates him, NO matter how happy or sad he is in life… HE WILL BE CONTENT AND HAVE JOY. Why? Because “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strenghtens Me!”

No matter how horrible the economy… have excitement knowing that God will give you the strength of satisfaction that even if you lose this job or your business, he will provide you with a new one!

No matter if your marriage is struggling or troubled… be happy knowing that God will give you (and your spouse) the strength of heart to forgive the other person, and the strength of healing to mend anything that happened in the past!

No matter if you are depressed in life, and think you should be farther ahead in life than where you are at now… have the strength of JOY knowing that Psalms 30:5 declares that “Weeping may endure for a night, but YOUR joy comes in the morning”.

Be encouraged today and full of life knowing that you can’t do it all in your own strength… but when you come to a breaking point when you feel you can’t make it another day or continue on… that you can depend of the STRENGHT OF GOD… and He will LIFT you through EVERY problem, provide for you, and replenish you!
