Move Into Your Destiny

“The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing…. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

“So Abram left, as the LORD had told him”   (Genesis 12:1-4)

For some people out there who come to dead ends in the road, or in their lives, are tired, or are just plain frustrated that they are not able to go further in their lives…. sometimes the BEST solution is to physically pick up all your stuff that you own… and move to a different city, state, and QUITE POSSIBLY a different country (as Abram did).

We see in this Scripture, God told Abram to move from the land of his fathers… to a new land that God would show him… and by making this big move… God promised that He would BLESS Abram!

Something remarkable happens to people that move to new places… they get a spark of creativity, and energy, and a newness of life. Moving to new places can help to renew you spiritually as well as giving you a new charge.

After all, you are moving into a new climate, with new surroundings, you meet new people… and everything is well, new!

I once heard motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar say that many people who have moved from Chicago to St. Louis became wealthy once they moved to the new city. Then Ziglar proceeded to say that many people who moved from St. Louis to Chicago became wealthy once they moved to the new city. He ended off by saying it wasn’t the new city itself that these people moved into which caused the blessing to come… but moving into a NEW environment that caused the great change within those people.

This morning after I write this post, I am going to make the seven-hour drive out north to Omaha, the hometown that I grew up in. When I moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Tulsa, Oklahoma about 7 years ago… that was the BEST thing I could’ve have done in my life at that point, because my life had basically come to a literal stand-still.

Now in the next year, my family and I will be making a move to sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. I am excited to see what God has for myself and my family down there in ministry, business opportunities, and just plain general happiness!

In most cases… a move for most people is generally good for a person who is at a stand-still in life to do. But as a disclaimer I must say, that if you are not financially stable… reconsider the move, because the worst thing you can do is to move to a NEW place (especially if you’re moving with children)… and be broke. This is just a recipe for disaster.

So, where do I move to?

(1) It is always a good that if you make a move… that you make sure that you have a few family members close by… or at least good friends. Sometimes this is not possible, but it is always generally a good idea to move into an area that already has a couple people you know (especially if you are a strong, family-orientated person)

(2) Move into a place that has the type of weather you like. I like sunny, warm weather and hate cold, dreary weather… so the places that I would move would include the South, Southeast, Southwest, and possibly California.

(3) Make sure you’ll be able to make a living in the place you move to. If your career is as a computer programmer… and you move into a place that doesn’t have a good demand for computer programmers… you could find yourself up a creek without a paddle.

(4) Research, research, research! Always make sure you research every aspect of the new city you are about to move into. Know all about the city, the state, housing, schools, job market, economy, weather, people, churches, and social life of that area.

Be blessed and walk in God’s abundance today!
