Evil is present because of the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden, but when it comes down to it.. it is our choice individually (for the most part), in how evil affects us. We as people made in the image and likeness of an all-powerful God, have more power than we think! He created the Earth for US to inhabit, and be like Him. He created us in His image. Now like you said, we were made with free will and He gave us the power to choose. It was the curse in the garden, the choice made by Eve and Adam to eat the fruit, which allowed the Earth to become Evil. The Holy Spirit left us immediately. We were supposed to rule over everything on Earth...environment, animals, health. Now those things rule over us if we let them; i.e. dying from tornadoes, being killed by malicious animals, or even cancer. Only if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, and if you have rec'd the Holy Spirit, can you have Dominion over Evil in this world. But that is also a CHOICE. So evil will roam this Earth. He DID NOT create evil. Everything God created, He looked at and declared it as GOOD (see Genesis 1). What He did create, however, is free will and choice in all men and women... and out of this free will, we make the decision to do good... or do evil. It is just like two parents who are good parents and raise up their child with love and discipline. If the child grows up, and becomes a serial, mass murder... does that mean the parents "created" this evil child? No it doesn't. They created and raised up a GOOD child... and that child was lead astray to do evil by his own lusts. Or if a gun company such as Smith & Wesson manufactures handguns... and a tiny percentage of people use those guns to kill or perform armed robbery... does that make them evil because they "created" the guns? No, it doesn't in my belief. DISCLAIMER: I am NOT saying that God created evil. He DID NOT create evil. Everything God created, He looked at and declared it as GOOD (see Genesis 1).
